Jamie is definitely our "Lake Wobegon child". As a 5 year old, he could recite a 10 minute story he learned from listening to story tapes, verbatim, including accurate mimicry of the British accents used in the story. Now, he is a natural mimic easily handling accents and dialects and has an excellent memory and outgoing personality so of course he displays no interest in drama. Jamie is an avid reader and loves trivia. He cooks and sews and is interested in sports, especially basketball, politics, history and Reach for the Top. He has shown excellent talent at piano playing and has demonstrated significant talent and interest in story writing. As with many parents who see a surprising talent from their children, we ask ourselves "where did that come from?".

See for yourself.

Here is Jamie's first story, The Og, written in 1997 when he was in grade 7.

Here is a short story written as an assignment in grade 9 English, 1999, Swimming.
