System Administrator - No Current Vacancies

Job Location:
Based in Ottawa, Ontario.
job Responsibilities:
- Provide full support for Rodopi Application.
- Support and troubleshoot Web server software (Apache, IIS) including SSL support (OpenSSL)
- Develop web-based tools that assist other teams in configuring services
- Respond, resolve and produce Incident reports of Network Outages for submission
- Perform System maintenance (hardware / software) during maintenance window
- Review System logs and resolve any system alerts or warnings
- Take turn in on-call rotation
- Review log files/system/security reports
- Maintain and manage Tape backups
- Ability to identify tasks that require automation and automate them
- Support of printers, including print servers and hardware
- Support levels for internal clients
- Resolve related trouble tickets issued by internal clients within 24 hours window
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of writing support documentation and papers, training users in complex topics, interacting positively with management
Requirements:
- Strong Knowledge in Server Hardware Configuration to include and not limited to:
- Building servers and desktops from components
- Raind configuration
- Troubleshooting hardware failure
- Performance maintenence
- Develop installation procedures
- Evaliuating and making hardware recommendations
- Strong Knowledge in Microsft Products
- Ability to perform daily maintenance on Active Directory
- Supporting and understanding of Microsoft Exchange (routing maintenance, backups and restore of data stores)
- Strong MS SQL and Access database knowledge to maintain existing DB, perform updates, create queries and generates reports.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Operating Systems and Security
- Capable of supporting IIS fully and understanding of its security.
- Knowledge in Unix, Linux and FreeBSD Operating Systems
- Configure, compile and install open-source software from source code
- Configure and install commercial binary-only software
- Administration, tuning, performance monitoring
- Knowledge in Networking
- Support Cisco IOS Configuration, upgrades
- Support for Cisco PIX firewall Admin
- WAN/LAN administration and routing
- Strong knowledge in VPN (PPTP and IPSEC)
- VLANS
- BGP
- Others
- Programming languages in Perl, PHP, Shell, Java, VB, HTML, XML.
- Rodopi Application, with strong knowledge ASP
- Diagnose, update and repair DB tables (MysSQL and MS SQL)
- Basic knowledge of Oracle DB
- Good knowledge of security at the network and application levels
Qualifications:
The successful candidates must have at least two to five years experience in System Administration and have completed coursework at community college or higher.
A degree in Computer Science or related filed is desirable.
