SYNOPSES: 1982


JANUARY 4-8, 1982
Alice and Steve bedded. Rachel, who broke up with Mitch, accused Blaine of chasing Steve. Cecile was temporarily poisoned by Louise's mushrooms or an excessive dose of diuretic pills. Sandy suspected Cecile downed the pills to kill the baby. Larry, Sandy, and Sally investigated middle-class drug abuse. Rachel sculpted a nude statue of Steve as a raffle prize. Jamie nixed Steve's job offer. Steve set up a museum with Rachel and decided to build Alice a house. Brian and Pat became engaged, as did Sally and Denny. Larry disliked his new partner, Bob Morgan. After Denny confessed to leaking a story about Harry's union dealings, Sally promised Denny she'll manipulate Steve in Denny's favor. Steve ordered Diana away from Pete after clashing with Harry. Blaine warned Rick she's a user.

JANUARY 11-15, 1982
Sandy told Jamie that Cecile drugged him to get the Cory money. Clarice told Larry she's pregnant. Larry questioned Cecile about her drug-buying habits and Sandy warned her to take care of her baby or else. Liz got a desperate phone call from Julia. Pat split to run Mac's New York office. Marianne and Mac reacted violently against James' "Peyton Place"-style tome. Pete refused Steve's offer of help when Harry was hospitalized with a heart attack. Loretta, Harry's wife, stood vigil. Larry and Bob questioned Cecile about her drug-buying habits. Sally saw Joe Masterson pass on a money-filled envelope to Denny. Diana admitted her love for Pete. Brooks tried to patch things up with Louise.

JANUARY 18-22, 1982
Sandy agreed to a legal U.S. marriage with Cecile for the sake of their baby but demanded a divorce when the baby is born. Rachel and Mac got cozy again after Steve told her he and Alice were engaged. Blaine and Quinn called a truce. Sandy wants custody of his child. Mac raged after seeing Rachel's statue of Steve. Denny paid Joe under the table to end the labor strike. Diana and Pete ignored their parents' feud and continued romancing. Marianne and Rick saw a marriage counsellor.

JANUARY 25-29, 1982
Cecile followed Sandy to Mac's country hideaway. Anne took Pat's old job and also took a liking to Mac. Denny received kickbacks from Phil Latimer on the Blackhawk project, then shared the loot with Quinn. Bob investigated Quinn's mugging and apartment ransacking. Julia became Deep Six band leader Honey's new lady. Jason optioned the movie rights for James' book. Larry was sceptical about Bob's plan to rehabilitate minority kids. Alice suggested Steve was jealous of Diana's feelings for Pete.
Texas: Vicky began dating again. Grant and Reena kissed and made up after he said he disliked her interior decorating talents.

FEBRUARY 1-5, 1982
Julia moved in with Liz. Ada began to work as an ombudsman for children involved in crime. Cecile tempted Sandy physically. Harry had a setback after learning Loretta accepted a loan from Steve. Mac and Anne dated and she suggested he go into politics. Bob got closer to Quinn and asked her to become a role model for the black community. Julia moved in with Liz when Honey vamoosed. Diana convinced Pete not to leave town.

FEBRUARY 8-12, 1982
Julia refused to return to high school. Diana lost her virginity to Pete in the horse barn, then they decided to elope. Ada and Clarice decided to sell The Hair Affair. Bob and Quinn got kissy-kissy. Brian mediated a financial agreement between Cecile and Sandy. Anne is afraid of failing with Mac and her job at Cory Publishing. Sam Egan agreed to publish Jamie's book. Melissa left town because her life was detailed in Jamie's book. Marianne and Rick left town when he accepted a general practice job offer.
Texas: Vicky began leading a second life by singing at Hunt's club.

FEBRUARY 15-19, 1982
Sandy refused to see a marriage counsellor and got chummy with Blaine. During an argument, Blaine quit before Steve could fire her. Denny squealed on Pete and Diana, and Steve stopped their elopement. On Mitch's recommendation, Rachel hired art school intern Tom Nelson. Ada quietly disapproved of Bob and Quinn dating since he's married. Harry was released from the hospital. Dean Andrews cautioned Tom to "play it cool" with Rachel.
Texas: Reena was shocked to see Vicky singing in Hunt's club. Grant told Reena he was having trouble getting a divorce from his wife.

FEBRUARY 22-26, 1982
Cecile was jealous that Sandy and Blaine were getting cozy. Rachel let Sam kiss her but rebuffed his marriage idea. Jamie and Anne got chummy, but she's intent on winning Mac. Cecile was accused of drugging Anne, who had a breakdown. Bob admitted his affair with Quinn to his wife, Henrietta. Rachel allowed Tom into her studio after he claimed he was robbed. Tom contacted Dean Andrews about The Male Panthers, a group of men who help fathers get custody of their children. Julia accepted a production job with Jason.
Texas: Vicky admitted to Reena she's upset over Striker's absence.

MARCH 1-5, 1982
Sandy wined and dined Blaine right under Cecile's nose. Blaine warned Julia to beware of Jason. Cecile was cleared of giving liquor or drugs to Anne, who spurned Mac's attentions. Diana gave half the proceeds for a horse sale to Pete's family. Steve repurchased the steed and agreed with Alice to try a reconciliation with the Shea clan.
Texas: Striker kept mum when Vicky accused him of having an affair.

MARCH 8-12, 1982
Ada asked police Captain Hancock for help in locating Matthew, who was kidnapped by Tom. Alice was tolerant of Rachel crying on Steve's shoulder. Sandy promised to reconcile with Cecile to keep her from moving to France, but he continued to see Blaine. Quinn's brother, Ed Harding, decided to use her connections to better his electronics firm. Jamie convinced Anne to return to Mac.

MARCH 15-19, 1982
Rachel took Matthew from a boat in San Diego but Tom crashed his car into Rachel's as she tried to escape. Ed asked Quinn to take out a loan for him. Cecile arranged a Miami vacation with Sandy which upset Blaine. Julia told Jamie she was adopted by Liz's daughter, Susan. Bob was upset that R.J. and hoodlum Willie Armstrong were accused of arson. Anne convinced Mac to run for mayor. Movie producer, Milo Simonelli, dated Liz.
Texas: Striker left town after telling Grant to take care of Reena, who suspected Striker was going to another woman.

MARCH 22-26, 1982
Steve rescued Rachel and Matthew from Tom, who was arrested. Rachel told Mitch he could see Matthew anytime. Alice and Steve postponed their wedding to attend the opening of the Frame Museum. Cecile's attempt to attract Sandy sexually was a flop. Milo wants Julia to play Rachel in the film version of Jamie's book. R.J. was released into Bob's custody.

MARCH 29 - APRIL 2, 1982
Mac announced his mayoral candidacy. Cecile suggested to Mayor Stein that he use Sandy and Blaine's relationship to discredit Mac. Sandy got his own apartment and saw more of Blaine. Ed left town with Quinn's financial loan. The Male Panther implicated Mitch in Matthew's kidnapping and Mitch was sent to prison. Sally and Denny were married. Director Vic Strang offered to screen-test Julia. Bob was suspended after killing Willie during a robbery.
Texas: Reena stood by Grant when Judith, his estranged wife, arrived asking for more money.

APRIL 5-9, 1982
Larry and Clarice decided not to abort their baby despite Clarice's age. Rachel was swept off her feet by sculptor Nikolai Pirenko. Mac failed to stop publication of Jamie's book. Jamie disliked the screen treatment of his book. Hired by Joe, thug Steamer planted a bomb in Harry's car. Bob failed to reconcile with R.J. Pete refused Steve's school loan offer.

APRIL 12-16, 1982
Mac bowed out of the mayoral race after Mayor Stein published photos of Sandy and Blaine. Cecile went into labor. Harry accused Steve of being responsible for the bomb that killed Loretta. Denny suspected Joe was behind the explosion. Nikolai gave Rachel the smuggled writings of a comrade. Bob investigated Loretta's death. Steamer shot and wounded Joe while they burgled union headquarters.
Texas: Striker returned to find that Vicky and Hunt have become cuddly.

APRIL 19-23, 1982
Rachel shared a kiss with Steve. Cecile decided to leave her newborn baby Margaret (Maggie) with Sandy and Mac so she could join her mother, Elena. Quinn took young tough, Thomasina, under her wing. Jamie was curious about Maggie's "premature" birth. Cecile remembered that her parents had abandoned her as a child. Larry and Bob captured Steamer with R.J.'s help.
Texas: T.J.'s parents, Burton and Mildred, arrived.

APRIL 26-30, 1982
Cecile stayed in town but Sandy refused to live with her for Maggie's sake. Rachel denied any romantic interest in Steve. Rachel agreed to have a lecture tour of Nikolai's country. Denny used Sally's Blackhawk stocks to pay Joe's blackmail. Liz began working with Milo.

MAY 3-7, 1982
Alice began to doubt Steve's love for her. Elena remarked that Maggie looks like Rachel. Feeling threatened by Elena, Anne left town. Alice arranged for Pete and Diana to meet secretly. Brian agreed to run for mayor.

MAY 10-14, 1982
Rachel told Steve she thinks Maggie is Jamie's child. Cecile vowed to get even with Blaine, who tricked her into signing Sandy's separation papers. Jason and punk rocker Deke vied for Julia's favors. Vic is attracted to Cecile. Steve left to open an office in Finland. Nikolai is discontent with his country's government.

MAY 17-21, 1982
Cecile reneged on her promise to give Sandy custody of Maggie. Alice refused to go back to Finland with Steve. Jamie dated actress Chris Wiley. Elena helped Brian with his mayoral candidacy. Mayor Stein dug up dirt on Brian. Sally's computer whiz friend, Howard Ecker, helped Denny bilk Blackhawk on funds.

MAY 24-28, 1982
Julia admitted she's attracted to Jamie. Rachel told Elena she's still attracted to Steve. Mayor Stein printed Cecile's tip off that Brian's son, Ted, was a mental case. Howard refused to help Denny rip off Cory Publishing.

MAY 31 - JUNE 4, 1982
Harry and Steve were livid when Pete and Diana eloped. Vic and Cecile pitched torrid woo. Sandy photographed Mayor Stein paying bribes. Brian got the assault charges against Blaine suspended even though Cecile testified against her. Jamie bedded Chris, who admitted her family has lots of money. Joe continued to pressure Denny for money. Quinn was unable to get Howard to work against Cory Publishing with Denny.

JUNE 7-11, 1982
Rachel consoled Steve after he and Alice argued over his rift with Diana. Sally refused to borrow money from Steve when Denny lied to her that he had big gambling debts to pay. Denny began to crack under Joe's demands for more money. Quinn chickened out about admitting she took bribe money when Bob announced he's separating from Henrietta. Mac refused to print Sandy and Blaine's information on Stein in Brava. Rachel approved of Jamie and Chris's romance.

JUNE 14-18, 1982
Alice was devastated to learn that Jim died of a heart attack while in Finland. The FBI bugged Stein's office. Bob got a bribe confession from Joe, then arrested Denny. Cecile searched for a way to ruin Blaine. Rachel encouraged Alice and Steve, who vowed to make their relationship work. Ada warned Steve to stay away from Rachel. Cecile searched for Blaine's old boyfriend, Buzz Winslow. Julia told Deke to drop his tough-guy act.

JUNE 21-25, 1982
Quinn was grateful to Steve for promoting her. Cecile and Buzz's sister, Alma Rudder, plotted to use Blaine's old diary against her. Elena began work at Cory Publishing. The FBI arrested Stein and his accomplices. Harry and Steve patched up their differences. Ed pushed for a renewed romance between Quinn and former boyfriend, lawyer Len "Bubba" Harris.
Texas: Vicky was shocked to learn that Striker has three children by a former client's wife. Ryan split town.

JULY 5-9, 1982
Alma got an apartment above Blaine's, drilled peep holes, and slipped her drugs without Cecile's knowledge. Milo worried about his film budget but added four new actors -- Anita, Dana, Lou, and Dan -- to the cast. Quinn was angered that Bob can't split from Henrietta. Brian won the mayoral race and seemed unaware that Mac is goo-goo-eyed over Elena. Deke encouraged Julia, who began to doubt her acting talents.
Texas: Striker joined his second family in Mexico.

JULY 12-16, 1982
Steve proposed a merger with Ed's firm. Curtis Eldan returned to Steve's office. Steve and Rachel were trapped in a crumbling building. Alice was convinced Steve didn't show for their wedding because he'd run off with Rachel. Thomasina begged Quinn not to accept Len's marriage proposal. R.J. and Thomasina joined Jamie's movie and found a costume mysteriously destroyed. Sandy and Bob investigated Blaine's phone calls. Sally and Denny had their marriage annulled after he was sent off to prison. Larry consoled Clarice over Denny's arrest.

JULY 19-23, 1982
Harry headed the cave-in clean-up crew which didn't realize Steve and Rachel are trapped under the rubble. New Cory Publishing executive Cass Winthrop arrived. Blaine recovered from the poison administered by Alma, who then plagued Blaine with weird phone calls. Rachel kissed and comforted Steve, who was pinned under a chunk of concrete. Cecile ignored Sandy's demand that she stop harassing Blaine.

JULY 26-30, 1982
Harry died trying to rescue Rachel and Steve, who admitted they love each other. Cass took a liking to Cecile. Claiming her ranch house burned down, Alma moved in with Clarice and Larry. Cecile panicked thinking Vic saw her with Alma. Milo fretted because his film is over budget and behind schedule.
Texas: T.J. left Paige at the altar.

AUGUST 2-6, 1982
To keep tabs on Alma, Cecile hired her to take care of Maggie. Cecile and Alma fixed up a Cory estate house to look like Blaine's childhood home. Quinn ran Blackhawk for Steve, who, together with Rachel, was rescued by Sandy and Jamie. Pete's bitter over Harry's death and Diana can't cope with raising his sisters, Bridget and Terri. Milo realized his movie is being sabotaged.

AUGUST 9-13, 1982
Alma threatened to harm Maggie if Cecile tries to back out of their deal to get Blaine. Cass agreed to handle Cecile's divorce case against Sandy. Blaine is convinced Cecile is the root of her problems. Jamie didn't catch on that Julia has a crush on him. Elena was upset that Cass knows secrets from her past. Steve had surgery for internal bleeding, while Rachel and Alice argued over whether to amputate his injured leg. Chris helped Jamie, who took over Blackhawk. Milo suspected Deke and Jamie of sabotaging his film. Bob dated Quinn and moved to a hotel when Henrietta asked for a divorce. Ada agreed to look after Bridget and Terri for Pete.

AUGUST 16-20, 1982
Mac and Cass worked with art dealer Louis St. George on a new art book. Cecile panicked when she realized that Blaine and Sandy suspect she's trying to drive Blaine nuts. Alice told Rachel she called off her engagement to Steve but will hang around to pick up the pieces when Rachel drops him again. Insisting she loves Jamie, Chris resisted Cass's advances. Hoping to collect big insurance bucks, Milo refused financial help from Liz after his movie set was vandalized. Louise was aghast that Alma accused her of skimming money from her household allowance.

AUGUST 23-27, 1982
Cass negotiated Cecile's divorce from Sandy. Julia was slightly injured when someone mysteriously pushed her down some stairs on the movie set. Diana resented Rachel, who refused to marry Steve but suggested they live together. Bob investigated the movie set sabotaging, and learned Ed's seeing Henrietta. Julia confessed to Vic she's a virgin. Chris inherited big bucks from her grandfather.

AUGUST 30 - SEPTEMBER 3, 1982
Cecile learned Cass has info linking Elena to art dealer Louis St. George. Rachel secretly offered to help Pete get a veterinary school scholarship. Louise and Brooks left their Cory jobs when Alma threatened to kill Louise. Milo made noises about scrapping Jamie's film hoping to collect the insurance money secretly. Sandy and Blaine spotted their former boss, Ilsa Fredericks. Vic romanced Julia after Cecile threw him out over Cass.

SEPTEMBER 6-10, 1982
Hired by Cecile, Alma learned that Louis is Cecile's father. Mac refused to let Amanda stay with Rachel, who's moved in with Steve. Louis and his valet, Vincent, conspired to get Rachel to sell a smuggled painting by Renoir. R.J. was upset at Henrietta, who bedded with Ed. Thomasina began work at TRE Imports which is owned by the Krebbs, who vowed revenge on Louis.

SEPTEMBER 13-17, 1982
Louis promised Elena he'd keep mum that he's Cecile's father. Alma rubbed it in to a distraught Cecile that she's Elena's illegitimate daughter. Alice left town for Boston. Vincent warned Louis that Albert Nordmann (AKA Albert Krebbs) wants to kill him. Jamie steered Julia away from her affair with Vic and lent support to Liz who fretted over losing Milo.
Texas: Ryan died in a plane crash.

SEPTEMBER 20-24, 1982
Alma temporarily kept Blaine prisoner in her "childhood home." Larry feared Blaine really is daft after she took him and Sandy to the cabin which had been redesigned by Alma. At the cabin, Sandy found a piece of the rag doll costume Alma donned to terrify Blaine. Brian offered to help Cass's sister Stacey set up a law practice. Deke left for Hollywood. Pete and Diana went off to college. Ed told Henrietta that he loves her.

SEPTEMBER 27 - OCTOBER 1, 1982
Elena warned Louis not to involve Cecile in his schemes. Jamie and Liz were upset that Cass hired a shady company to distribute Jamie's film. Alma kept mum to Cecile that Louis is her father and refused to budge when Cecile tried to pay her to leave town. Mac refused Rachel's request that Amanda live with her for a while. Steve landed a university construction project and tipped Jamie off to a college teaching job.

OCTOBER 4-8, 1982
Cass took over as Cory Publishing financial manager. Rachel kept mum to Steve that she agreed to sell Louis's art collection to help finance Steve's company. Julia was surprised when her mother, Susan Shearer, arrived. Sandy helped Blaine face her past in Claxton. Buzz, who had supposedly died, secretly tailed Blaine and Sandy. Steve refused Jason's offer to renovate a hotel-bordello for Ilsa. Vincent worried about Louis, who ran into Albert Nordman at Rachel's gallery.

OCTOBER 11-15, 1982
Larry was relieved that Clarice delivered a healthy baby girl. Elena rebuffed Mac's love overtures. Cass criticized Stacey's do-good attitude when she and Susan opened a clinic for crime victims. Mac suspected Brian is involved in corrupt politics. Brian secretly worked with agent Rick Taylor to exposed Ilsa's prostitute ring. Quinn and Steve hired architect Roy Bingham, who took a shine to Quinn. Albert plotted to steal back the paintings he believes Louis stole from him. Brian admitted he's jealous that Louis wants Elena back. Jason resisted Ilsa's plans to blackmail clients of their bordello.

OCTOBER 18-22, 1982
Cecile refused to move in with Elena, who got her own apartment. Jamie enroled Julia in a high school equivalency program. Mac planned to sell the Cory mansion but agreed to let Amanda stay with Rachel for awhile. Sally wasn't interested in Cass's romantic advances. Mac fumed that Cecile told the Claxton police that Blaine is a loony. Alma rejoiced to learn Buzz is alive. Sandy tailed Blaine and Buzz into the mountains.

OCTOBER 25-29, 1982
Blaine learned Alma spread rumours that Blaine's mother was crazy because Alma loved Blaine's father. Alma left town but vowed revenge on Sandy, Blaine, and Cecile, who shifted the crazy-business blame onto Alma. Cecile insisted Louis keep mum he's her father. Steve objected that Mac said Rachel could use his mansion as an artist's residence. Buzz fell to his death during a cliff fight with Sandy. Vincent was beaten and his partner, Hastings, accidentally shot while trying to recover Louis' paintings from Albert.

NOVEMBER 1-5, 1982
Mac ousted Cecile from his mansion after Sandy accused her of trying to drive Blaine crazy. Stacey agreed to take Sandy's side in his custody suit over Maggie while Cecile hired Cass. Elena promised to support Cecile against Sandy's accusations, but fretted that Cecile intends to stay with Louis. Brian and Interpol agent Rick Taylor asked Bob to help them get the stolen art from Albert and Louis, who secretly told Rachel he had a buyer for the collection. Steve searched Jason's files for evidence of prostitution activities. Jamie and Susan discovered they like each other.

NOVEMBER 8-12, 1982
On Mac's orders, Cass dropped Cecile as a client. Albert's thugs held Cecile at gunpoint then searched Louis' apartment for the missing art collection. R.J. unwittingly took a drug-running job. At Rick's request, Sandy spent time with Cecile to get info on the missing art. Larry was upset that Clarice is overprotective of Jeanne. Bob decided not to move in with Quinn. Julia was shocked to see Jamie kiss Susan after Julia had blurted out her feelings of love for him. Bob warned Steve to stay out of the police investigation of Ilsa's prostitution ring. Albert suspected Elena knows where Louis is keeping his paintings.

NOVEMBER 15-19, 1982
Quinn cautioned Rachel that Steve will be crushed if he learns Rachel is financing his business. Cecile ignored Cass's warning that Sandy's concern for her is a trap. At Elena's suggestion, Mac gave Sally Cecile's old job. Jamie refused to deny his attraction to Susan. After Sandy rescued Cecile, Rick suspected Albert had hospitalized thug, Renaldo, killed. Albert learned Rachel is innocently trying to sell Louis' stolen art.

NOVEMBER 22-26, 1982
Mac set up a trust fund for Maggie and offered to finance Henrietta's catering business. Larry was upset that Cecile lured Sandy away from Blaine on Thanksgiving. Elena considered asking Mac to publish a novel by Louis' estranged wife, Felicia Gallant. To get free of Ilsa, Jason secretly helped Steve investigate her company. Learning that Rachel struck a deal to sell Louis' paintings, Albert dated museum secretary Mary Lou to keep tabs on the stolen art work. Bob agreed to work with Steve and Jason.

NOVEMBER 29 - DECEMBER 3, 1982
Concentrating on his investigative reporting, Mac let Cass and Elena run Cory Publishing. Mac rented an apartment while Steve and Rachel moved into Mac's mansion. Blaine fretted that Sandy was spending more time with Cecile to get info on the stolen car. Quinn refused to marry Bob until he straightens out R.J., who escaped a drug bust with only a leg wound.
Texas: Grant told Reena he still loves her but must stick by Judith, who may be permanently paralyzed and is suffering from partial amnesia.

DECEMBER 6-10, 1982
Cory Publishing legal assistant Peter Love was smitten by Sally. Blaine was upset that Sandy agreed to accompany Cecile and Maggie on a Caribbean vacation. Ilsa shot Jason, who pushed a table into Ilsa causing the gun to go off, accidentally killing her. Jason died after he helped Steve get the evidence to bust up Ilsa's prostitution ring. Albert's brother, Johann, arrived. Bob and Quinn set a New Year's Eve wedding date. The Nordmans realized Louis is trying to sell the stolen art to Henry.
Texas: Paige was surprised that Dennis deeded her the Top of the World Club and the World Oil penthouse.

DECEMBER 13-17, 1982
Mac hired nurse Cathy Harris to look after Amanda. Blaine was upset Sandy hasn't contacted her since he left with Cecile. Cass was jealous that Peter dated Sally. After arguing over Sandy and Cecile, Mac fired Louis from his Cory Publishing assignment. Julia is upset that Stacey's working as legal consultant on Jamie's novel. A shot rang out as Bob entered a video arcade during a drug bust. Rachel refused Steve's proposal. Louis is miffed Henry wouldn't pay top dollar for the stolen art.

DECEMBER 20-24, 1982
Jamie suspected Mac and Rachel are still in love as they reminisced about happier Christmases. Blaine accepted a New York publicity tour after learning that Cecile had seduced Sandy. R.J. was arrested and Bob was killed during the arcade drug bust. Brian proposed to Elena. Susan left town to rejoin her husband.
