TRACK 1
June 1969
- In this scene, shortly after Lee's death, Sam flashbacks to a scene from April, 1968 with Lee,
just after his release from jail following his arrest for the murder of Lefty Burns, whom Lee
had killed in self-defense. Lahoma is attempting to prepare a study area for him in their
apartment. If you listen carefully, an exasperated Lahoma can be heard furiously snapping the
pencil she has just sharpened after Sam gathers up his books and leaves to study in the office.
- Liz, enraged that Fred and Susan have become romantically involved, angrily throws him out
when he returns from dropping Susan off to stay with Bill and Missy. The sound of the glass
bottle shattering that she flings at the door after him can be heard.
- The sound of Liz flinging Susan's clothes down the stairs at her can almost be heard.

Fall 1969
- During Susan and Fred's wedding, Alice flashbacks to the scene where she returns her
engagement ring to Steve and tells him why. Also Liz tries to be gracious to Fred and Susan
after the wedding.
- All alone after the wedding, Liz dissolves into tears as she realizes she has lost Fred forever.
- Alice flashbacks to the aftermath of the revelation which contains the most venomous portion
of the scene.
- Sam angrily reacts to Lahoma's suggestion that they obtain a divorce.
- In a brilliantly acted, finely crafted scene, Jim tells Mary the reason Alice broke her engagement
