1. What is alt.fun.with.luc ?

It's a cult. Hope this helps.

2. Who is Luc?

This question was posed by Pierre (am983@freenet.carleton.ca) in his NetTrek column (The Ottawa X PRESS, June 15, 1994):

"....[W]ho is he? Who, what and where he is, what he's done, said and eaten...It's all here. Luc's disciples even chant his anthem... Go [to] alt.fun.with.with.luc and learn exactly how Luc spent those three days at Calabogie last week"

Um...in other words: We don't know either.

Luc is...

"a saver of kids and warns people not to step on cords and to not fall off bridges." - Dissy

"funny even when he tries *not* to be funny" - KEL

Hope this helps.

3. Is alt.fun.with.luc a cult?

See question #1.

4. What are the requirements to post to alt.fun.with.luc?

There is only one requirement (Hope this helps):

a. Only Luc can post about "What [he] did today" unless Luc is at the cottage then Jason posts "What [Jason] did today."

b. and every story posted to alt.fun.with.luc must have an elevator part to it.

c. also, every afwl story must begin with "So...."

d. parts b. and c. can be avoided by sending the faq keeper a cheque or money order for $20 (may be higher in outlying areas).

5. Why do all alt.fun.with.luc stories all have an elevator part?

It's a requirement. See question #5.

6. What does "shaba" mean?

Shaba means really cool or interesting. Luc created this word and we blindly use it (see also question #1). Hope this helps.

7. What's up with all this cheese stuff?

Luc likes cheese. He was brainwashed by a garbage can:

"I found the garbage can I had in my room when I was a kid. I think I may finally know why I like cheese so much. It's a Peanuts garbage can, with Charlie Brown, etc. having a picture taken... and in big letters, in the bubble-thingy, it says "CHEESE!!!" I saw this every single day of my childhood. I've been brainwashed by a garbage can. Cool huh?" - Luc

Hope this helps.

8. Who are these people anyway?

9. What do I do when Zuc wants to tell me the "crazy lady story"?

Simple. Tell him you've already heard it. He tells everyone this story so there is no way that he could remember whether or not he told you or not. The "Crazy Lady Story: The Motion Picture" was staged as an IRC teleplay and scripts are available from climate. Hope this helps.

10. What does Farfannugan mean?

It is Luc's middle name (see also question #14).

11. How do I tell an a.f.w.l reader when I meet them on the street? Is there a secret handshake or something?

Yes there is a secret handshake. But none of us know what it is (otherwise it wouldn't be a secret). There are tell-tale signs though. Firstly there is the afwl jargon:

Also, there is a whole line of afwl merchandise that we wear religously. Hope this helps.

12. How can I get some of this a.f.w.l merchandise? I mean like those cool badges, posters, stickers and t-shirts?

Well, first you'd have to go out and buy some cool crayons, and let's say, a white t-shirt. If you're using a t-shirt you had in your house already, make sure you ask your parents before you take any of their white clothing for your masterpiece. For posters, just find a big piece of paper and draw (we've found the back of Beatles' posters are the best!)

13. Why doesn't Billy get alt.fun.with.luc at his site?

He should ask his newsadmin for it.

14. What does Luc's middle name, Farfannugan, mean?

"Well, let me see, it looks like a compound word:

Far--> Luc's grasp is far reaching, and so is the distance he'll go for some good cheese

Fan--> He's got many fans, `Far' and wide :)

Nug--> Well, maybe we'll skip that one

Nugan-> short for Nugandastanizakan, Luc's homeland, and the birthplace of alt.fun.with.luc" - Vernon Nielson

15. Who is Billy?

Billy is the official mascot of alt.fun.with.luc. We had a secret pageant and Luc and Zuc decided that Billy would be the mascot. There are two reasons we chose Billy: 1. He can do the Running Man (or is that Running Dog?) and 2. He's the only one we know who's as hyper as Luc. Some people think Billy's name is Elvis, but they're mistaken.

16. Who is Gazoo?

Gazoo was the first runner-up in the a.f.w.l mascot pageant. If for any reason Billy is unable to fulfill his duties as a.f.w.l mascot, Gazoo woul assume the responsibilities of the position.
