If the side walk is on a slope towards the house and would require less than 1" or 2.5 cm to correct the situation you may build up the side walk to direct the slope away from the house. To do this use a cement cleaner, bonding agent in the power to mix it. Ue a thick cement mix to build up the side walk. This saves the time and effort of removing the old side walk but may limit the visual inspection of the foundation walls of the house.

Be on the alert for underground pipes and cables such as gas, sewage and sub pump hook ups, taps, telephone connections and electrical wiring. Many utility companies have a "call before you dig" hot line to locate their connections to the house.
