Hi, my name is Lisa Bloomer, and I am a licensed Naturopathic Doctor in downtown Aurora, Ontario. I graduated in 2001 after completing four years of study at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in Toronto. During my studies at CCNM, I interned at the onsite clinic along with completing an additional internship at the Anishnawbe Health Clinic in Toronto. Prior to my naturopathic training, I completed an Honours Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario.
Naturopathic Medicine is an exciting and unique way of looking at health and well being that takes its roots from many ancient-healing traditions. By focusing on prevention, and using natural substances and treatments, I am able to support and stimulate my patients' abilities to heal themselves. The primary goal of naturopathic treatment is to address the cause of illness, rather than simply treat or suppress symptoms. In order to address the cause of illness, it is necessary to treat the "whole" person, which is one of the main tenets of naturopathic medicine - "treat the whole person; mind, body and spirit". In treating the whole person, it is vital that I see each patient as an individual and develop unique treatment protocols. When treating patients, I use many different naturopathic modalities such as clinical nutrition, botanical medicine, acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine, homeopathy and lifestyle counseling.
What Health Concerns can be treated with Naturopathic Medicine?
