I have met silverchair! Well, BEN TWICE!!! Here's where all you people who have get to gawk at your photos of the moment and strut your stuff and make those who haven't met them feel like the world is so unfair! Maybe you have been graced with the presence of three guys who we tend to blow up to be gods or unreal images! (Well maybe not gods! )

BRUSHED BY BEN'S SWEATER!!!

My step sister and I were at the palace concert in hollywood and we stood by the backstage curtain for the opening band set.All of a sudden some guy came out wearing a hooded sweater. I wasn't sura at first, but then the bodyguard said "you just missed Ben, wait itll he comes back". So I got all excited and like 15 minutes later he came the same way through amd all I could do was stare in shock and my jaw was like to the floor. He was walking pretty fast too, so I couldn't grab him ( RUN BEN!!!) Which now that I like about it, I should've. His sweater brushed my arm but that's about it!

IT'S GOOD BEING DEPRESSED!!

At the Edgefest in Vancouver ( the one i didn't get to go to!!!) I had gotten pulled out of the moshpit during silverchair!(damn those dumbass bouncers)& tried to get back in duringIME,but I left again because it sucked! So I wuz sitting by the fence seperating the grounds from backstage REALLY depressed that I didn't see the end of silverchair, when a bunch of teenie's (teenies, why do the always ruin those special moments?) started yelling " where's Daniel?, could you go get Daniel" So I looked over the fence & who did I see-BEN!!! So I went over & shoved my way through and asked Ben if he could sign my program. He smiled at me & said " Sure, d'you have a pen?" I told him I didn't & he said hold on & went inside a sort of portable thing, he came out about five minutes later & had gotten Daniel & Chris to sign it too! I told him that they kicked ass and that they played a really good show today but by then 5 or 6 people were shoving things through the fence to get him & DANIEL to sign. I looked at him sign all these other people's things & he made about a million trips back and forth & he looked annoyed. So I shouted to him, " Smile Ben, it's for the fans!" So then he looked over at me & winked them left.

SEEING BEN IN SANTA MONICA

I was lookin' off to the side of the stage at the Santa Monica Civic concert and saw this guy taking pictures with somone. He was wearing a beanie and when he took it off it was BEN. I asked the person behind me if it was him so she said " i don't know, call him". So i shouted -HEY BEN!He turned around and waved to me and I returned the gesture, then that's when the girl behind me screamed " BEN PLLLLEEEEAASSSEE ( please very loudly )COME OVER HERE!!!!!" but he had to go and said bye. I waved to him one last time and he smiled and waved back.

WHY WASN'T i THERE?????

Our whole silverchair filled day started at about 7:00, when we arrived at Club Rio on May10th. It was abit early since the concert was at 3:00pmMy best bud Hillary and I & some other friends somehow got my mom to drive us early. When we got there we put our stuff in line and some janitors let us in to check out the club. It was about 7:30 when we went back outside & we saw a red gleam pass around the corner. We asked the driver when he got off if it was silverchair and he said " I don't know, maybe". Then he said " yeah, they're sleeping so don't scream". Naturally we didn't scream, but we sorta wanted too. Then the equippement truc showed up and the roadies started unloading the stuff. Around 9:00, we were talking to some other guy who showed up & then he yelled "CHRIS", so we turned around. We walked over & and asked for his autograph and got some pics with him. He looked so tired but he was really cute
(Chris tends to look "cute" when he's tired). After meeting Chris we just sorta hung out for a while more, talking to some nice roadies. I had decided to explore infront of the tour bus & see if I could see through the front window. When I did, sure enough there was Ben staring back at me, rubbing his bald head. I told my friends & as soon as I did Ben walked off the bus. We got his autograph & took some pictures with him& had a pleasant conversation. I asked him about his hair & he told me he had shaved it the night before filming 'CEMETERY' & that he felt like shit cause he just woken up. He then turned to Hilary & asked " if there were any beaches 'round here?" She was thinkin' "um, in Arizona? We've got lakes." Before he entered the club hilary asked him for a hug ( ahhh, cute!)& my other friends followed. Then Ben thought that i was gonna hug himbut i didn't right at that moment. Daniel's Dad kept walking by & smilling. He was very sweet. There was still no sight of Daniel ( cause he was probably gettin' as many z's as he could) but every once in awhile Chris would walk by & wave. While hilary was checking on our stuff in line, Daniel finally made an appearance. There were only 6 of us so he stopped, dispit his dad telling us" give him 5 fucking minutes". Daniel then went back into the club. In a matter of minutes Daniel came back out, gave more autographs & hugs. I also semi-hugged him again. After a while, a roadie with a walkie-talkie came outside & asked if anyone wanted to talk to Ben. Hilary took it quite willingly & chatted with Ben who was on the bus at the time. I'm don't know what they said, but i caught a couple of dirty words that belonged on a 900 #. The show was awesome. Automatic kicked ass. Matt, the lead singer threw his water bottles at me . For local H everyone was moshing and going ape-shit. silverchair we the best ever. They played the same set list as usual and Daniel didn't really say much, just kinda stared into space and went into the usual convulsions ( good,ol' Daniel). I made a security guard promise to give me the set list. At the end of the show it was gone! Then a got a tap on the shoulder . When I turned 'round it was a roadie & he had a pick & said " this is for you". That was so cool. Before the concert when we met them was in such a relaxed open atmosphere with few teenies hangin' 'round, but the actual concert was another story.Everybody was so cool that they let us walk into the soundcheck when Ben & Chris were playin'.It was the coolest part of mine& hilary's lives.

VERY VERY BRIEF ENCOUNTER, IF YOU CAN CALL IT THAT!!

I went to the silverchair concert in Mississauga & i moshed the whole time. When it died down alittle ( in between songs) Chris bent down & picked up his waterbottle &a sip and chucked it into the audience. It sprayed me in the face, which was really refreshing in the hot sweaty pit, and i reached up to grab it. The bottle bounced off my hand and some guy beside me got it and took a drink. I'm prttey small so if i did grabit they probably would have kicked my ass & taken it away. When i crowed surfed the security guards grabbed me & i was right up near the stage so i was 4 feet from Chris. This was a cool moment in my life. Not quite as cool as when i met Chris form PUSA but right up there. This was definately a BRIEF encounter with silverchair! ( i asked for brief and you sure gave it to me!)

SORTA, WELL NOT QUITE!

Well, i'm like you ( me!) and i have not met silverchair. Shitty. But i did talk to Daniels dad. Um, this was in '95 and silverchair weren't well known yet. My friend & i got to a gig early & we were hangin' around by the front of the mosh. This guy was walking around and i knew it was Daniel's daddy cuz i had just seen an interview & he was in it the night before. Si i said HI MR. JOHNS & he said HI. I just laughed. I was talking with the lead singer of the opening band around the side & Daniel was standing behind this curtain thign talking with Chris so this chick that was beside me said HI DANIEL and he gave us his famous all teeth grin(oh i know that one!) & Chris leaned over & waved ( this was when he had long hair). That was my silverchair encounter!

JUMPING AROUND LIKE IDIOTS!

Me, and my friend james went to a 'chair concert on may 17th (1997) in dallas at the bomb factory and we got their early. Everyone that had been their early thought the chair were inside but james adn i didn't. Sure enough they were around back. They were sittin' in their tour bus. so me and james were jumping around like idiots trying to get their attention & we were about to give up when ben walks out of the bus (YAA BEN!) and says " hey i can do that to" and jumps really high in the air . He was tellin us how all of them thought we were hilarious. We got his autograph, i got a hug adn james got a hand shake. and the oncert was hillarious too!

CHUCKING APPLES!
i sorta in a twisted way had a somewhat encounter with sc. i have never ever met them &that sucks but we were at the concert april 23rd in detroit michigan (me, tammy, and cari) & we all brought daniel a b-day present ( awww! ) since i was broke i brought an apple, yes an apple. so during the concert i suddenly remembered it was in my friends purse so i pulled it out and threw it on stage i was only like 12 rows from there just out of the mosh pit coz i got my ass kikced in the pit & anyways so i threw it& almost hit daniel in the head with it & he gooed up on the song he was singing. After the concert (about 1 hour after) we saw them getting on th bus and there was a HUGE crowd of teenies standing around & we were like i dunno 10 ft from the crowd waiting for our ride & ben looked over & waved and i jus kinda looked around for a sec like who else is around us & no one else was so we waved back. that's my sorta never happened but kinda did in some twisted way encounter.

SPEECHLESS IN THE PARKING LOT!
I was at the silverchair show at 'slims' on March 30 '99, & just before the concert i was walking down the street over to the door (this place is in the city so the parking lot was like right next to the street & you could see all the tour busses and everythin) I was looking over into the lot, trying to find which bus was silverchair's and then i noticed Daniel walking out of one,& saying something to someone inside of it, the minute i saw him i went into shock and couldnt say anything- i was just standing there looking stupid as hell when he turned around & started walking through the parking lot, i was like the only one around & he noticed me & smiled! I couldnt belive it! I really just wish i would have said something! damn! ( it's okay sweetie, next time)

SORTA A BRIEF ENCOUNTER< KINDA!
It's 6:30 now and everybody is talking about chair. Some little girls off to the side are fixing their hair and i'm getting impatient. Then out walks chris... then ben (mild response)... then daniel (the entire stadium erupts!) After the first song daniel glances into the crowd to see a midget man given him the finger. Immediatly he points the guy out for all to see buy fingering him back and screaming FUCK YOUUUUUU!!!! Yeah, i see you !! Fuckin' ass... oh, i'm sorry! it's a woman... the mustash threw me off! I really am sorry mam... then into the next song and stops one more time to say between breaths "thank you for being so respectable". In all it was the best hour of my life and the worst. It my first time in the pit ever and it hurt like hell! But it all payed off when daniel called all the people on the hill and in the bleachers assholes for not getting hurt like the worthy fans in the pit.

HUGS FROM BENNY!
After seeing them in concert my sisters and I went out by the tour busses & we waited outside by them for a while, while we were out there, this guy walked by me, and he was REALLY short. As he walked by I looked at his face & I said to my sisters "Hey wow. That guy looks a lot like Ben Gillies." Then suddenly all of these mental images of pictures I've seen of Ben Gillies started flashing in my mind & I realized that it was him! Since I'd never seen him in person before, I'd never known that he was really short! So I turned to my sisters & I said "Oh my god! That was Ben Gillies!" Then I turned & ran after to him. By this time a group of people had gathered around him & were asking for autograph's & he was being really nice & sincere to everyone. So I gave my camera to my sister Amanda & I said "I'm going to ask for a picture with him." Then I waited until he had gotten closer to me and I said "Hi Ben." & he said "Hello." in his adorable australian accent, & I said "Can I have a picture taken with you?" & he said like "Sure! Of course!" so he stood next to me & he put his arm around me, made a really cute/silly grin & he took a picture with me. Then my sister asked him for a hug, & he gave her one! So we both had a brief encounter with silverchair, & I've got the picture to prove it! =) It was definitely one of the best nights of my life!

The Day I *Almost* Met Silverchair!
Last year my friend Amy was going to the Gold Coast for the weekend, & invited me to go with her. I wasn’t feeling too well & I had a bit of schoolwork to catch up on, so I had to decline her offer. (This would have to be the most stupid decision I have ever made in my life!) Anyway, Amy stayed at the Marriott, Surfers Paradise, (one of the nicest places to stay on the Gold Coast) & while walking through the grounds, she ran into Ben & Chris from Silverchair! Amy said that they were a bit rude to her, & treated her “just like an annoying fan.” She asked where Daniel was, & they said that he was in their room, as he wasn’t feeling well (just like me!) Amy, wanting to get something autographed, invited Ben & Chris back to her room. She gave them her demin shorts to sign – Ben demanded that he sign the crutch (hehehehe). She brought photos & the shorts to school the following week, as evidence of her silverchair encounter.
